Have questions about booking your Komodo adventure? We’ve compiled answers to the most common queries about our Komodo boat charter FAQs, covering everything from booking to packing to safety.
We recommend booking 3-6 months in advance, especially for peak season (April-May and December). However, we can sometimes accommodate last-minute bookings depending on vessel availability. Contact us to check availability for your preferred dates.
Our charter prices include accommodation, meals, snorkeling/diving activities, land excursions, expert guides, and crew. They do not typically include international flights, visas, travel insurance, or tips/gratuities for crew (which we recommend at 10-15% of charter cost).
Absolutely! While we have signature itineraries, we specialize in customization. Tell us your interests – diving, photography, wildlife, culture, relaxation – and we’ll tailor your experience accordingly.
Standard terms are 50% deposit to secure your booking, with the balance (50%) due 60 days before departure. We accept international bank transfers and major credit cards.
Cancellations more than 120 days out receive a full refund minus 10%. Between 90-120 days: 50% refund. Between 60-89 days: 25% refund. Less than 60 days: no refund. We strongly recommend travel insurance.

Amenities vary by vessel but typically include private cabins with air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, freshwater showers, dining areas, sun decks, snorkeling/diving equipment, and entertainment systems. Luxury vessels include additional amenities like hot tubs and spa facilities.
Standard activities include guided snorkeling, island walks, wildlife viewing (Komodo dragons, endemic birds), photography opportunities, sunset cruises, and cultural visits to local villages. Diving, specialized photography tours, and other activities can be arranged.
Snorkeling is included in all charters with equipment provided. Diving is available on select vessels with certified dive guides. Additional costs apply for diving courses or specialized dive trips. Notify us of your diving certification level when booking.
No problem! Snorkeling is incredible in Komodo waters and included in all charters. We can arrange diving certification courses on select boats, or you can simply enjoy the spectacular snorkeling opportunities.
Yes, all meals are included and prepared fresh onboard. Our chefs are experienced in accommodating dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-free meals. Inform us of any dietary needs when booking.

Our crew includes trained first aid responders. For serious medical emergencies, we can evacuate to Labuan Bajo, which has a primary health center, or to Bali for more advanced care. Comprehensive travel insurance with evacuation coverage is essential.
Komodo waters can be choppy, particularly between islands. We provide seasickness medication, and our crew has strategies to minimize symptoms. Choosing a larger, more stable vessel reduces motion.
Safety briefings occur at the start of each charter covering life jacket use, emergency procedures, and communication protocols. All crew members are trained in rescue procedures. Life jackets are mandatory for water activities. Our vessels meet international maritime safety standards.
The dry season (April-November) offers the best conditions with calm seas and clear skies. Peak season is April-May and December. The wet season (December-March) brings occasional rain but fewer tourists and unique wildlife viewing opportunities.
Our experienced crew monitors weather continuously and adjusts itineraries as needed. In rare cases of severe weather, we may reposition to sheltered anchorages or delay activities. Your safety always takes priority over planned activities.
Park entrance fees and permits are typically included in the charter price. Our crew handles all permit arrangements. You’ll receive a Komodo National Park permit upon entry.
Indonesia uses the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). USD is widely accepted in tourist areas. ATMs are available in Labuan Bajo. Current exchange rates are approximately 15,500-16,500 IDR per USD, but check current rates closer to your trip.
While not required, travel insurance is highly recommended. It should cover trip cancellation, medical evacuation, and emergency medical expenses. Marine/water sports coverage is important given the nature of boat charters.
