Our largest fleet category — 57 luxury phinisi, ranging from 28m boutique vessels at USD 2,875/night to 65m flagships like Lamima at USD 27,000/night. All are two-masted hand-built sailing ships from South Sulawesi, rebuilt with modern luxury inside.
The phinisi is Indonesia’s most iconic sailing vessel — a two-masted wooden ship hand-built in ironwood and teak by master shipbuilders of South Sulawesi. UNESCO inscribed phinisi shipbuilding as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2017. The shipyards at Tana Beru and Bira still launch new vessels the old way: keels laid in ironwood, hulls planked by hand, no formal blueprints — only generations of carpenter’s memory.

Three filters: group size (number of cabins), budget tier (boutique / mid / flagship), and trip purpose (honeymoon vs family vs dive vs corporate). Tell us those three and we’ll narrow 57 to 3 in one reply.
Vessels in this fleet range from 4 to 25 years old. Older phinisi are typically more traditional in style; newer builds are more open-plan. We inspect every vessel quarterly.
Yes — all carry full rigs and raise sail on transit when conditions allow. Powerful auxiliary engines mean the schedule never depends on wind.
